As of 9am 8/22
Good Morning,
Today was another busy day as we moved closer to the clean up of the AFFF release at Hangar 4. Clean Harbors has completed the clean up of the exterior of the hangar as well as jetted all the stormwater drains. They are monitoring the stormwater ponds and each day we are reassessing the situation there and what is the best next step. Today, we had crews in 3 different areas of the ponds vacuuming up foam as it continues to form. We will be considering other options tomorrow.
We have brought on another company to join Clean Harbors in the clean up as we needed more manpower. Tomorrow the crews will continue working at the Ponds and will also start to clean up the inside of the hangar…and Precision Air will get to wash off the 3 planes that they had in the hangar. We are moving in the right direction.
Lastly, this afternoon at 3pm we held a press conference outside of the Terminal Building led by DEP Commissioner Melanie Loyzim. I have attached the link below if you would like to listen/see how it went. I felt it was successful. The press and attendees asked good questions, acted calmly, and I feel we covered a lot of topics while calming fears and concerns.
As always, we’re available if you have any questions.
