MRRA Subsidiary Aids Community With Monies Collected from Events at Brunswick Landing, including the Great State of Maine Air Show
Brunswick Landing, Maine — The Midcoast Charitable Foundation of Maine (MCFM), a subsidiary of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, recently announced the award of $44,000 in grants to 14 local organizations. These funds are earmarked for projects that strengthen community organizations and services to improve the quality of life, economic viability and sustainability of the communities and not for profit organizations that serve the Midcoast region. The MCFM is funded through events that are hosted by MRRA on the Brunswick Landing. 100% of the venue fee from events such as the Flight Deck 5K & ½ Marathon, Girls on the Run 5K, Maine Water Utilities Training Event, Maine Senior Games, and Big Brothers Big Sisters 5K, are donated by MRRA to the Midcoast Charitable Foundation.
MCFM received 14 applications after extending the deadline to submit a request to the end of 2021. The MRFC Board, chaired by Nick Nichols, voted unanimously to fund all 14 requests. This year’s awards total was the largest ever with nearly double the amount given compared to the previous high total of $22,500 in 2011. The organization has donated a total of $104,000 l since its inception in 2011.
This year’s grant monies will go toward funding a number of local projects, including two located at Brunswick Landing – the Bath YMCA and Family Focus.
“We’re pleased we’re able to give back to the community, especially during these challenging times,” MRRA Deputy Director Jeffrey Jordan said. “We are grateful to our partners and to our customers who’ve helped us raise the funds for these gifts.”
