The Air Show Network (ASN), which managed the 2021 Great State of Maine Air Show, held Sept. 4-5, for the Midcoast Regional Redevelpment Authority (MRRA), compiled a report, highlighting some of the key economic impact indicators from the Labor Day weekend event.
ASN said this year’s show was the most successful event in the air show’s history since the base became a civilian airport in 2011. The show had 20,000 guests over the two-day show.
Based on an economic impact report by the tourism bureau for an air show produced in Florida earlier this year with an attendance of 12,000 people, Air Show Network estimates that the show generated a $15-$20 million boost to the local region. The Great State of Maine Air Show had nearly twice as many attendees.
ASN shared some interesting metrics from its marketing campaign and its review of the 2021 Maine show.
a. Campaign Results: Social Media: 2.6 million Impressions.
b. Website: 175,955 Total Visits and 100,426 Unique Visitors.
c. Guests from 39 different States attended the Event.
d. Estimated Quantity of Hotel Room Stays: It is assumed that one hotel room was needed for each order over 100 miles, or 1,711 rooms.
e. Total Orders made from 100+ miles: 1,711.
f. Total Attendees from 100+ miles: 4,441.
g. Production Staff used over 700 hotel room nights.
The report, created by the AttendStar team, to inform the Maine Office of Tourism and the event managers of the Great State of Maine Air show of the geographical trends and results from the 2021 Great State of Maine Air Show. The trends displayed in the report include ticket sales, ticket sales by state, and ticket sales by Maine zip code. From this data, ASN made an estimate of how many ticket buyers booked a hotel room stay in order to attend the show.
