110′ Topsham Water Tower is Felled
As part of the redevelopment of Topsham Commerce Park, MRRA is removing the water tower from behind Building 333, now owned by Wicked Joe Coffee Roasters. The project was a bit more complicated than MRRA expected and required a four-phase process:
1. Relocation of water pipelines connected to water tower and adjacent pump house and emptying 575,000 gallons of water from the tank;
2. Dismantling of the 110-foot steel tower (built in 1957) and removal of scrap metal;
3. Demolition of concrete foundation (5-feet thick) and vault;
4. Clean-up and replacement of soils and landscaping around the tower.
Costello Dismantling and Colex Excavation have been the main contractors on this project.
