I hope you are all doing well during these crazy times and able to get outside and enjoy the great fall air. As you recreate on Brunswick Landing, I request that you respect the rights of individual property owners and refrain from using their respective properties without gaining their permission first.
Unfortunately, we’ve had a number of recent instances of observed trespassing and damage on private property, especially on lands owned by the federal government (US Navy and Maine National Guard). These lands are all well marked. Until the Navy properties are transferred to MRRA, they are off-limits to the public. The reason these lands are still owned by the Navy is because they are undergoing further environmental study and remediation work. The lands owned by the National guard will remain private to support their mission. Please note that trespassing on federal land is a federal crime and the Navy and National Guard can pursue appropriate legal actions for violators to enforce it. Because of this issue, much of this land is now being video monitored.
There are also other properties owned by MRRA, the Town, Bowdoin College and others that are not yet open for public use. Please refer to this general map of the current multiple property owners on the Brunswick Landing campus. You many also refer to the Town of Brunswick’s GIS map to help ascertain property boundary lines.
If you are unsure who owns property off the roadways, please ask before using it. We’d hate to have someone fined or barred from use of Brunswick Landing due to a criminal trespassing summons.
