TechPlace, the technology incubator at Brunswick Landing, opened its doors in 2015. In the years since, we’ve transformed a 95,000 square foot former aircraft maintenance facility at the Brunswick Naval Air Station into Maine’s premier technology incubator.
TechPlace is part of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, the organization created to implement the master redevelopment plan for the former Brunswick Naval Air Station following its closure in 2011.
Our mission is clear. We support startup and early-stage businesses in industries shaping the future: Aviation and Aerospace; Composites and Advanced Materials; BioTech and Life Sciences; CleanTech and Renewable Energy; and IT and Cybersecurity.
Within six months of opening, TechPlace was home to 17 tenant businesses. Since 2015, we’ve supported almost 100 businesses, and today we host 36 across all of our targeted industry sectors.
Our facilities are designed to meet businesses where they are and help them grow. TechPlace offers private offices and shared co-working space, private industrial spaces, and a large production bay equipped with overhead cranes. Members also have access to shared machine, wood, and welding shops, a BioLab, and a Composites Layup Facility. Add to that a robust amenities package including four AV-equipped conference rooms, a classroom, breakroom and networking spaces, ample parking, and on-site business support and programming. And that’s just the beginning.
People who visit TechPlace are often struck by the scale of the facility and the innovation taking place inside it. They tell us TechPlace is a unique and special place. We agree.
